Earthing
These rods are essential components of grounding systems. They provide protection from dangerous situations such as lightning strikes. They do this by dissipating electrical energy so it flows harmlessly into the ground. As a result, there is less risk of electrical shock, excess voltage, fires and damage to equipment.
Copper is the optimal choice of earth electrode material and underground conductor – solid copper is recommended for high fault current installations whereas copper bonded rods are usually installed for smaller sections.
Solid copper rods offer greater resistance to corrosion. They are ideally used in applications where soil conditions are very aggressive. Solid copper Earth electrodes are used when better conductivity and corrosion resistance is preferred. Solid copper Earthing rods are of two types.
